The value of the breadth of services our nonprofit organizations provide the Elgin community is immeasurable. Actually, let’s start there…community. A community does not sprout up overnight. It forms organically over time thru the participation of individuals in common community causes and the connections formed with the businesses and organizations who help facilitate the work of those causes. Those connections then become the threads in the fabric of our community weaved by our non-profit organizations and service agencies.
Our fabric is very strong in Elgin, as evidenced by the six community volunteers the Elgin Area Chamber will give thanks to at today’s Community Thanksgiving Luncheon at Elgin Community College:
Tom Brockner – dedicated community volunteer with Kiwanis Club of Elgin and the Downtown Neighborhood Association
Terry Dunning – long-time volunteer with Advocate Sherman Hospital’s board of trustees, Elgin Area Chamber, Centro de Informacion, Elgin Community College and Elgin Noon Rotary Club
Karen Fox – volunteer with the Elgin Area Chamber and Gail Borden Public Library
Sylvia Hiple – hospital advocate and community educator with Community Crisis Center
Eric Larson – Executive Director at Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra and President of NorthEast Neighborhood Association
Karen Schock – Elgin Symphony Orchestra board member and Gail Borden Public Library volunteer
Still not convinced of the value of these vital community organizations and their volunteers? Below is a video that demonstrates the various ways our nonprofit community impacts the people and the businesses of Elgin.

In addition to the support you can provide to our nonprofit service agencies thru #ILGive on Giving Tuesday, you can also make wishes come true for many of these organizations by visiting www.ElginChamber.com/CommunityShare. Here you will find a wish list of needed items for our non-profits. From office supplies to office furniture, your donations are well appreciated.
This Thanksgiving, we give thanks to all of these outstanding non-profit organizations as well as their staff and volunteers for making Elgin a community to be truly thankful for.
