Elgin Gives: 2018 Workshops
(Workshops for 2018 have ended, however our Training Resources are available for registered participants. Our 2019 Workshop dates will be announced in July, 2019.)
As nonprofit participants, you are eligible to take workshops to help you make the most of Giving Tuesday. These workshops are being led by previous Giving Tuesday participants who were very successful with their campaigns and participated in debrief meetings with 30 other Elgin nonprofits for three years to create best practices.
Come hear what they’ve learned and discover ways to make the most of your Giving Tuesday campaign.
Please register for up to three 90-minute workshops using the form below.
#GivingTuesday: What It Is and Why It Matters
8/21/18 9:30 am – 11:00 am at Gail Borden Library
Tight resources and limited time can make the idea of adding or enhancing a campaign at year-end seem overwhelming or downright impossible. In this, the first of our Giving Tuesday workshops, we will take you through the origins of this day of giving and its roots in Elgin. Case studies featuring non-profits of various missions and sizes will highlight Giving Tuesday success stories and the steps leading to that success. Workshop attendees will leave with planning strategies, and a toolkit for getting started. An open forum to ask questions and share ideas will leave you excited for November 27th, this year’s Giving Tuesday.
#GivingTuesday: It’s All About the Plan
9/18/18 9:30 am – 11:00 am at Gail Borden Library
Planning will be essential to launching your Giving Tuesday campaign. This workshop will dive into implementing the toolkit, establishing a timeline and creating a step-by-step plan for your campaign. Fellow development professionals will share how they crafted effective stories and used imagery and other elements to create compelling online campaigns. If you’re new to online giving or want to elevate your Giving Tuesday campaign to a new level, don’t miss this chance to kick start your Giving Tuesday plans in all the right ways.
#GivingTuesday: Getting Your Board “On Board”
10/9/18 9:30 am – 11:00 am at Gail Borden Library
With your tools, plan and timeline in place, it’s time to get your Board of Directors involved in Giving Tuesday. In this workshop we will discuss the importance of Board involvement in your campaign, and take an honest look at potential obstacles and how to overcome them. Non-profit leaders with success in peer-to-peer Giving Tuesday campaigns will share their approaches and suggestions for engaging volunteer leaders in this powerful giving opportunity. Whether new or experienced with Giving Tuesday, you’re sure to leave with practical and effective ways to incorporate peer-to-peer strategies into your plans. Attendees are encouraged to bring Board Members (President/Development Committee Chair) to this workshop.
